Pilot's Badge Case Question
Several years ago I purchased a cased pilot's badge out of a very old collection. I have no problems with the badge, but a question about the case. Angolia's first edition F&F states that the interior of the case should have a purple satin lined lid with a purple velvet insert. This is exactly what mine has, I've just don't recall having seen another. Most of the cases I've seen have a blue interior. Did the liner at some point change to blue or do I have a 30 year old reproduction case built to match the description in the book? The insert is removable and has the proper glue residue inside with a "626. KB." stamped on the insert. Anyone else have a purple liner?

Hi Snigley,
First of all cases ar not my cup of tea but I'll post you this case from a Juncker Para badge I have in my files and that seems to partially match your description. Hope this helps.

case
Snigley,
I have a early "bordfunkerabz" case with a blue velvet "mounting" section and a puple lined Lid. Under the mounting section its cardboard with a pencil marked "40". The mounting section is actually re-enforced with wood not cardboard.

Hi, Snigley.
To add one more case to this discussion. I have an early IMME Pilot cased with the same purple satin lid. In the first photo it appears that the purple velvet insert is a blue color rather than the usual purple. The second shot reveals that the material under the badge was the usual purple. IMO someone left the case opened to sunlight for a period of time and caused it to fade considerably.

It appears that Philippe and I have identical cases. Unfortunately I haven’t been able to take a photo that truly shows the bright purple of both the lid and insert. I assume from the comments that these are accepted as original.
Here’s the printing on top.
The glue and lettering on the bottom of the insert.
And the badge in the case.

Hi Snigley,
it's a nice one. even if I have not a total vision of it, I know it and it's okay. I like the velvet very thick .
@ Robert,
your case is one of my favorite case'types! I like in particulary the stoff used for cover it, are quiet scarce.
Philippe's case showed is another type of yours, made from another firm, even if that type stay to the sun, will not come much more bright.
3 different cases but all very nice!!
regards
Ivan

I've had several types of interiors...
Deep-pile velvet in a rich purply-blue
Deep-pile velevet in a dark blue
Thin blue velvet, unpillowed.
plain cardboard with blue-flocking
I'll try to root out some photos when I get home..

Some times a navy blue will fade to a purple colour, I think this is the case in your case about your case.
Kind regards,
Marcus

The big question appears to have been answered. Apparently it was not just an error in the book, but purple lined cases are accepted as original. I also found out that after trying to get my photos to show the true color, there may be a lot of purple cases running arround that just appear blue in photographs.

Ivan,
Here is the case you commented on, the mounting base could only be raised as much as shown. I have yet to find the proper badge for it.

Hi Robert,
very nice early case. some early types has insert in wood like yours, I think yours probably is in cherry's wood type.
I would see a nice jmme's badge in this case or an Assmann !
is an effect or what's around the word?
