Default Werner Geier

Sadly Werner Geier passed away November 12th. He had been suffering from ALS, a form of Motor Neurone Disease, he was 45 year old. He leaves his partner Linda and his family.

Some of you may have been familiar with his posts in this area, especially due to his interest in the Steyr RSO.

Werner was instramental in helping me acquire a number of Steyr 1500's that are now in the hand of collectors.

He was generous with his time (and photo's), and had a great sense of humour, he will be sorely missed.

David

Hi David, this is very sad news indeed.

I did not know Werner, other than through his posts here. My deepest condolences to his wife and family. Sorry that you have lost a good friend.

Cheers, Ade.

That is very sad news.......myself and Werner had corresponded about RSO and different driving licenses types/Merkblatte over the past few years.

Unfortunately we had some unfinished work.........we will continue again one day my friend!

David, can you please pass on my condolences to his family?

/Ian

oh my god. I was lucky enough to correspond with Werner a few times about the RSO.
He was always such a polite and friendly gentleman.
Its a true true shame to see such a great man and at such a early age pass away. A great loss. Please send his family my deepest condolencies!!
Ian

David,

This is very SAD news indeed! I knew and corresponded with Werner many times in reference to his passion for the Steyr Raupenschlepper (RSO). We traded off photos and research material. He will be sorely missed by all who knew and corresponded with him. Please relay my heart felt condolences to the GEIER family. Bill

I'm another one of those who'd corresponded with Werner about RSOs in Finland and Norway over the years.

For me as i'm sure it was for everyone else, if it was RSO related Werner was the man to ask.

I´m very sad at the moment. I always enjoyed receiving mails from Werner with update of his restorated vehicles.

Extremely sad news indeed

I do a bit of scale modeling and a year or so back I started a post on another forum looking for info on the Steyr RSO. Werner contacted me and sent many detailed period photographs (most of which I had never seen before) and loads of technical information I couldn't find anywhere else... and I had never even spoken to him before that! We continued to bounce mail periodically after that and I know he put a load of time and effort into his book on RSO's. I hope someone can help finish that project and see that it gets to print in his memory - it would make a fitting tribute to him.

Werner was heavily involved in the restoration of the RSO in the Heeresgeschichtliches Museum in Vienna, Austria. I was amazed with the quality of the work and the attention to detail. A grade-A restoration!

Here is a picture of the RSO Werner worked so hard on. I took these back in 2003 and if you are ever in Vienna I recommend swinging by the Heeresgeschichtliches Museum to see this vehicle.

He was a very kind, generous and all-around friendly person who will be missed. My thoughts and prayers go out to his family.

RIP Werner

Rob

RIP Werner
May the road rise to meet you,
May the wind be always at your back,
May the sun shine warm upon your face,
May the rains fall soft upon your fields,
And, until we meet again,
May God hold you in the hollow of His hand.
