Diggin’ Russia //Achtung! Gruesome images
Greetings all,
More often then not, chasing a certain piece of a war relic ,the fact that there is a real human tragedy behind it is neglected. The pictures that I want to share in this thread should also serve as a cold shower to those who are very casual with the term “ground dug “ while peddling merchandise. Those , collecting shields may find them useful too in establishing the visual link between the item , the place and the action.
This first set of images come from a Krim based digger pal of mine , Andrey, nickname Sevastopol. The remains of 10 German KIA were recently unearthed by him. It was established that the 10 were killed in 1943, while slowing down the Red Army’s advance during German retreat from the peninsula. Being encircled by the Russians, they could have easily surrendered, but chose to die.
