I agree that it looks like a standard 98k bayonet. I can't make out the marks on the pommel, but they appear to differ slightly from the standard Third Reich-era Waffenamt markings. The marks on the blade do indicate the manufacturer. One other thing I noticed is that is not a standard WWII period frog. Most did not have the straap that went across the grip and this one appear to be just slightly too big for the bayonet.

I'm sure there are others out there who can shed more light on this piece...bayonets are definitely not my strong suit!

Best,

Default S/155K

Hello Merdock, Your bayo is a normal 98k bayo, that was made in 1934 by firm E.uF.Hoerster, Solingen, that was used a number code S/155, small stamps on pommel are first variation of WaA stamps, with small downwings eagles above digits, in Your case i assume 95 or 96? Please, could You send more details to our dbase - serial number with letter? Thanks, from the pictures, Your bayo was probably in war refurbished, while the blueing looks more to red brown color and the plastik grips have replaced the original wood grips.I hope this helps,Andy from BCN
