Thumbs up Erich Topp items

Hello folks,
In honor of my friend John being made moderator of the great KM forum, I thought I would share some eye candy.

I don't know if you guys remember, but I used to have a web-site called Beltram's German Militaria (it was one of the 1st German militaria web-sites on the internet) and I started it in 1996 and ended it in 2001. As a matter of fact my site used to be linked with WAF.

In the late-90's Erich Topp had several valuable items stolen from his home and they have yet to be recovered. I was contacted by Erich Topp's son (I was asked if I would run an add on my site listing the stolen items, I was more than happy to oblige) and as a result I started writing to him as well as Erich Topp himself. Around 20 5x7 photos were sent to me (via snail mail) showing some of Erich Topp's things. I was also sent several wonderful Christmas cards from the Topp family.

I want to share several images with you. That way we can all remember the great U-boat ace.

Regards,
Jody

Can you spot the diamond U-boat badge and the crew made RK? I would love to have those pennants or even the KM record.

Hi Jeff,
No the stuff in the photos were not stolen. Someone stole his RK with Oakleaves and Swords, his RK binder and his KM honor dirk with diamonds.

Plus a few other things. Very sad.

Regards,
Jody

Jody,

The signed photo by Topp would be the centerpiece of my collection. Great story and personal relationship you had with this officer.

I was watching a documentary yesterday here in Canada regarding U-Boats. They interviewed Mr. Topp and filmed his RK, his Docs and his naval dagger. This must have been filmed a number of years ago, a real shame!
Regards,
Sean
