What makes you think this is a post war cap? It looks like a pre-war cap to a private railroad to me. The maker is unknown to me.

Gordon, I agree and probably acted too fast--I think you are correct, that Mielchen logo is pre-war--good eye....

Gordon, changed my mind--it is postwar. Mielchen was the successor the M. Drechsler , a TR maker:

If the second hat you posted in post war then you are undoubtedly correct. There are some clues in the maker marks on these two caps. Both use the same address and the same phone number. Somewhere I have seen a reference to when West Germany changed from six digit phone numbers but I can not remember when. I'll have to look into that.
My library is alos short of DB reference material. Something to be corrected.

More grist for the mill. The flugelrad on the red cap was introduced in the Reichsbahn in 1927. First in gold and then later, in the same year, it was changed to silver. The Reichskokarde was worn above it and the Landeren kokarde blow it it. Still undecided as to time frame for this cap but the research continues!
