Thanks to everyone who has posted their items on this thread. My father served two tours in Vietnam, shot down three times, sole survivor of the last incident as far as he knows. Never makes it out of the bedroom on veteran's day but he is getting better. I know PTSD first hand and I inherited some of his 'situational awareness' early on. He is still my biggest hero despite what all his ex-wives say.

It is to the veterans of this conflict that I owe a debt of gratitude. Despite the unpopularity of the 'Nam, the troops that served there hold a special place in my heart.

I have had a great honor of meeting some LRRPS, 1st Cav soldiers, even some members of MACVSOG some of whom my father flew around. They are a prime example of what it means to 'Keep driving on' and stories, images, personal memories kept me from dropping out of RIP, making it through Airborne and making it to Scouts 2-5 during my prime. They pushed me on silently from some hall in time and if it wasnt for a bad jump I would still be out there loving life as a 'Boonie Rat'.

'You are not forgotten' may have been meant to be applied to POWs/MIAs but for me, it applies to every one of them that experienced Vietnam.

As soon as I find the camera I will post my 101st and 1st Cav uniform items.

Thanks for that link and thanks again to all the contributors.

Patrick,
Thanks for the comments on the rifle. That grenade launcher is extremely rare.
I was pleased to find this thread on the forum because I have a few VN items and would like to share them.
One very important item in particular that I'll post later....
Good to hear from you,
R.Blue

Patrick,
This was given to me by a friend of mine. He called me one day and said that he wanted to give me something.
He told me that he knew that no one would ever know what it was if something happend to him and he wanted me to have it.

There is one more known....it is in the JFK Special Warfare Museum on display.

Lloyd,
Your dad and my dad might have bumped into one another or maybe
talked to one another over the radio. My dad was a air traffic controller
at the airbase at NKP, Thailand. NKP was one of the bases that SOG
flew out of.

Roscoe,

good grief!

Glad that it is out of "captivity" to use an Uncle Bill phrase, and in good hands.

fantastic item.
