KVK 1st Class maker "50"
I just got this KvK 1st Class without swords today. I thought it would be interesting to post some pictures of it, because it has the makers mark “50”, one which I have never seen before on a KvK.
What is your opinion of this KvK?
I know that Gordon W. was looking a while ago for pictures of a KvK with the makers mark “50”. If you are still interested Gordon, please let me know and I will send you some Hi-res pictures.
Pascal

I saw your this post the other day, but this is the first time I have had a chance to respond. I have a 50 marked 1st KVK w/o swords, but there are distinct differences between both our badges, and cases for that matter. Naturally this raised concerns for me.
There are some details on your cross I find odd, such as the total lack of frosting, pitting on the reverse, like new push button on the case....How much of these would actually be concerns, I dont know, as I am not really fluent with KVK's. Then there are the differences that exsist between both our crosses (like the maker mark).
I will post pictures of my cross, in the hopes that someone out there will help us sort this out.

It did occur to me that Langemarck's badge might be an early one, and mine late war, but the reverse close up shot he provided doesnt look like tombac to me...and why would the maker marks be totally different?
I am ready to learn...who wants to help us out please??

What a great response M.Schroeder, that was the response I was hoping for. Even better that you posted some pictures. Thank you very much.
I know that the War Merit Cross is not very popular but I like it and would like to a have a honest example in my collection.
So just like you I am ready to learn as well and maybe somebody can teach us both something.

Your reply came when I was writing my reply. Thank you as well George for pointing out all the similarities. Still keeps the question about the frosting and the makers mark?

Here are two examples of "50" marked KVK1s from Detlev´s offerings, photo credit Detlev Niemann. They are both of the "Schroeder"-type.
