Default 1936 1st Class Fire Brigade Badge

All I Knew -- It's been quite a long time since we have seen one of these !st class Fire Brigade Badges pop up. Finally I can say at least 3 of these badges exist in the USA. If you want to see a picture of one being worn, go to Chris Aiksby Collection Fire Brigade Badge. This photo appeared by Chris Ailsby and I informed the membership of this forum. Ron R then posted the picture. Did you buy it here in the States ??

I saw one about 2 weeks ago at a small show. It caught my eye because the white "disc" area that the swaz is in was a yellow color rather than white. Any comments?

Default SKIFFER --1936 1st Class Fire Brigade Badge

Skiffer, The one you saw at a show was a fake with the yellow disk. Plus it was small pin back with a hallmark that had a number M9/72 it's about the same size as the 2nd class cross with ribbon.

A REAL ONE IS ABOUT THE SAME SIZE AS A GERMAN CROSS !!!!

WARNING TO ALL THESE ARE FAKES THAT HAVE BEEN FLOATING AROUND FOR YEARS !!!

Thanks for your insight. I'm glad I didn't bring it home. The old saying "go with your gut feeling" proved true in this case.

Default 1936 1st Class Fire Brigade Badge

Skiffer . I have an Original and was completely surprised at its size. Originals are all vaulted and have NO hallmark. It took me 30 years of looking before I found one just by chance. I had a book that I kept back in 1968 that told about this badge. It was so RARE that I never thought I would ever find one. I picked up mine in 2002.

I have to say that it is a prize to own one. Based on its history and what it took to get one, I RANK it higher than a German Cross because of WHO had to OK the awarding of it. The head of the SS H.H. had complete authority over the approval of this Badge and Hitler retained the right to personally sign the award document.

VERY FEW AWARDS CARRY THIS AUTHORITY PERSONALLY !!!

Thanks stonemint for the photo. That's the one I've been looking for.
A truly rare photo.

Regards,
AB.
