Default Rs20 / r3 u-20 ?

I have a pair RS20 and R3 in transit cases. I was told many years ago the pair
was captured in Quebec province and that the story was reported in a French language newspaper "Le Prense" or some such. Which I have still not investigated.
However in looking at the cases, each has "U-20" stencil painted on it. I looked
up U-20 and it did not have an Atlantic career. The tubes are mostly '42 dated
with one '43. Now I am perplexed about the Quebec story. I could understand earlier in the war but maybe not as late as '43. That the pair could have been used
for agent shipping convoy reporting seems to me possible, as I also have another
R3 captured in New York state; I received it from the man who kept it after a raid
in Gloversville, N.Y. So what do you think about the U-20 marking ? There is also
this stencil, possibly added later - going by memory: 87CR-MD/5 I believe this
is an Allied marking; very few German words start with C as compared to K. I have no idea whatsoever this last marking might represent. ( I also have a Torn.FuGk
with the case marked " 9/Cr " which I assume refers to something about the
Allied capture or study survey. ) I welcome any input or opinion !
