Hi Gary,

As has been mentioned elsewhere on WAF, it would be very good if you could post a couple of photos of this GPB...pardon my suspicious nature, but it wouldn't be the first time that a stash or horde offered by a supposed vet had included fake pieces. After all, vets are not necessarily collectors, nor have many of them studied these subjects over the seven decades since WWII. At militaria shows, one occasionally sees a vet chatting with a dealer whose cases are filled with fake 'war souvenirs' -- many of them blatantly specious -- and the innocence that vet embodies in his speech is enough for me to know that he is about to be scammed big-time!

That said, in order to post pix here, you must be an 'Association Member' of WAF.

I was researching holders of the HJ honour badges for our lists over on hj-research.com a while back and while I was at it I noted down the following list of party members with a membership number below 100,000 and whether they mentioned the award of the GPB. I'm sure that you guys will know about the majority of these already but hopefully there may be one or two new ones for your records. There's also one Blood Order serial number at the bottom of the list. There are short biographies for each person listed so if there are indeed any numbers listed below that are new to GPB collectors just give me a shout and I'll add the bio.

If the person states that he was awarded the GPB then there is an asterisk after his party membership number.
If a GPB serial number was mentioned by the holder it will say "badge xxx" after his name.
If just the party number was mentioned, that is shown.

Hi Garry,

Many thanks for your good efforts here! One question: is all of this GPB information from one source document, such as a HJ publication or series of publications, or have you compiled these names and numbers from a variety of sources? Since I maintain the practice of noting on my list the source of each attribution, whenever possible, this information would be very helpful to me.

Thanks again,

Br. James

Hi there,

Yes, this info comes from just two books:

"Der Großdeutsche Reichstag" 1936 and 1938 editions.

The books list all elected members of the parliament and there is a short bio on each of them. Not much there from a HJ standpoint at all but there were all of these mentions of the GPB so I thought I'd note them. Both books can be downloaded from the Bavarian State Library but as I say, I'm more than happy to extract info from the bios and post it here if anyone needs it.

I added some more to the first list so here goes. As I say, I'm sure that the vast majority of these names are known to you but it would be great if there were one or two new ones for the GBP collectors.

So,
If the person stated that he was awarded the GPB then there is an asterisk after his party membership number.
If he said "I was awarded GPB serial number XX" then it will say "badge xxx" after his name.
If just the party number was mentioned, that is shown.

Max Amann: party number 3*
Emil Maurice: badge 39
Karl Holz: party number 77
Leo Schubert: party no 87
Otto von Kursell: party number 93*
Gerhard Rühle: party number 694

Hi again, Garry. In reviewing your latest list below, it appears that there is a duplication of NSDAP numbers: you have #5250 as being held by both Paul Gimbel and Adalbert Gimbel...? On my list, #5250 was held by Adalbert, not Paul.

Thanks,

Br. James

Ah yes. Sorry about that. Adalbert is correct. I'll check why I added "Paul" now. There was definitely only one Gimbel listed though and that is Adalbert as you say.

Jonas can also be removed. The number I gave is for his NSV membership. He didn't join the party until 1930.

Thanks for re-posting an amended list first seen of WWM !

These 2 received the honorary GPB:

Rudolf Klieber: party number 56388*
Wilhelm Heerde: party number 56403*

And the left is the only badge on the list I have encountered so far.

The WWM list was also posted by me. It was a shorter version of the above list because back then I had just gone through the two books for the first time and remembered seeing a thread asking for info on GBP holders. WWM closed (again) days after I posted the first list. I think that you must be the only person that saw it as you were the only one who got in touch with me through the PM system back then to ask where I got the information.

I was at a lost as to where to post Golden Party Badge information. Perhaps something can be made a sticky.

While looking through some captured German record files, I came across a circular from Schwarz's office to all Gau Treasurers dated December 1, 1939. The circular announced the distribution of 1000 order forms for Golden Party Badges to all Gaues in the Ostmark. The large badges were priced at RM 1,50 and the small ones at RM 1,--. What was interesting was the paragraph notifying Treasurers that the Ehrenzeichen would only be awarded upon completion of the application. To male party members would be provided a large badge for uniform and a small badge for civilian dress. Female party members would only receive the small badge.

If we worked to post every GPB number we found listed in books and kept them in a thread Or hidden database we could in a few years have thousands of them knocked down . Eventually with everyone's help likely find most all of them eventually and then make a list semi complete.

Problem now is there are some who have semi complete lists and have small businesses selling the information when it's highly likely the national archives may just have a list already somewhere.

There are also folks who know who some unattributed badges owners were and because they cannot purchase them refuse to give up the names , so until we start working together to cooperate we can never hope to know the complete lists identities.

So the logical question is : would everyone be interested in a joint cooperation project to list badges listed in documents and periodicals not always found in quantity to attempt to see if this could be solved. ??
Of course there are other numbers also given and many changed and some even taken away and then reissued...so it is not an easy project to tackle. I have books with many listed on paper I have set aside myself...thinking that someday something like a joint effort might happen. If so it would be greatly appreciated by all to be able to look up your own or others badges and then the next project would be to list all SS numbers. It could be kept offline and then published when finished ....and to those who for example found 100 names or more get a free copy when it comes out....just an idea....but if there is any interest I'm game to help....as I am sure many here would be also....
