Default White washed equipment?

Hi!
I have seen some pieces of equipment that has been white washed, what i have seen is a belt, a k98 ammo pouche, a gasmask canister and a field shovel, was this common that the soliders white washed their equipment??
Any one got any period photos or photos of white washed equipment that you own?

Hey Lasse,
I might have one canten, that has a painted white cup. Will post photos this week. But it may not be good I am not sure of it. Has a story with it, so now that you brought up the thread I will post a few photos.

There was an original winter camo MP44 by Mark posted in the collections forum. I will see if I can find the link.

Hi Lasse and Michael,

I hope this thread will live long, as this is definatly a very interesting topic to discuss.

I'll start with sharing this gasmaskcanister ( which I posted before already), named to a certain Ltn. Pack.

It hasn't got a story, I picked it up 10 years ago on a local show.

The white paint is sprayed on it ( certain areas are thicker...were the paint ran over) seems to be permanent so it isn't strictly white-wash. Could real white-wash become permanent after all these years?
The wear and aging looks original as far as I can judge.

Kind regards

Jan

Some of the best examples I have ever seen are from a Forum member in France, perhaps he will share them here.
