Well after going through all these posts this just killed my desire to start collecting again! There seems to be someone in every field of collecting ruining the excitement for the rest of us of finding " gold " only to discover it's just " fools gold! "

In my opinion the real problem does not lie with scammers. Collectors should seek more the knowledge than the fetishistic desire to possess exceptional pieces just because they are facilitated by the wallet. Too many collectors do not recognize the dignity of the most common objects, forgetting that behind them there was the story of a human being, and they are animated only by a compulsive and frenetic buying and selling activity. This is my modest and debatable opinion after 45 years of military collecting.
