This man knew certainly a soldier whose I own the Wp. (same 8./36). I will post it later.
Thanks!
Sounds like a very interesting Wehrpass! I am really looking forward to see your Wehrpass to the man that served in the same Kompanie as Josef Plank.

Very nice wehrpass U571!

Default Füs. Btl. 17 (L)

Hello

Very interesting post about LFD docs.

Here is a SB about Füs.Btl.17(L), most probably wounded at the end of August 44 near Pacy sur Eure.

And an other about LW Jäger Rgt 33 (L), same division (17th) but the soldier fought on the other side of river Seine with 18th Felddivision (L).

He received the Infanterie Sturmabzeichen in Silber after the Mons Pocket :

Great ! The Sb with specific collars tabs is very interesting.
With these two Sb, we have in photo two perfect examples of uniform's practices (with or without collar tabs).
Thanks for posting them.

Nice addition U 571 ! And incredible : your "guy" was in Normandy with the first man's Sb I posted in the thread (in 6./Jg. Regt. 46), and after normandy, transferred to the same compagny than this one (Werkstatt Kp. 16, later 1316) !!
Both were first in 16. Lw Felddivision and later in 16. Volks Grenadier Division.
World is little, isn't it ?

Hello all

Unfortunately, Imageshack has deleted my previous photos. I don't know why but I continue this thread with a Wehrpass of a member of Jg. Regt. 36 (18. Lw Felddivision), same Coy of Dennis's Sb 8./36 (sorry Dennis for my very late post).
Not very filled but anyway interesting for such FD unit.
This man fought in Mantes's bridgeshead during second half of august 44. He was probably taken POW (there ?) because he is not listed in Volksbund files. Last entry is july 44 when he went from 7. to 8. Kompanie.

Hello all

I continue this old thread with another Sb. related to 16. Lw FD.
It's again a Lw soldier who whas in Luftnachrichtentruppe in a airfield of Germany before to go to the field division in december 1942 :
first with Wachkompanie 16. Lw Felddivision during only one month, and later in Artillerie Regiment 16 (L).
Note than the name of the unit on page 4 is Artillerie Regiment 16 (L), since january 43, whereas is Lw Artillerie Regiment 16 on the stamp of p. 15, dated of april 44.
We often say and heard that the Lw fielddivisions have changed of name after their transfer in Army, but with many examples of original documents (ID papers but also KTB of units and Armee Korps), I think not.

The I./AR 16[ (L) was a leichte Abteilung and the 2. Batterie of this soldier was first equiped with 76,5 cm yougoslavian guns (FK 300) before to get russian 76,2 cm gun (FK 39).
This 2. battr. was stationned on dutch coast, near La Haye/Den Haag (Katwijk).
In january 44, this man received KvK II kl. but the entry is not in his paybook. Fortunatly, the Besitzeugnis is associated here.

At the end of juni, the 16. FD move to Normandy front (Caen area) and was destroyed there between 8 and 19 july.
At the end of july, remants were distributed in few divisions (21. Pz D., 272. ID, 711.ID and 16.ID).
The I./AR 16 was used to reinforce I./Art. Regt. 1711 of 711.ID whereas the two others Art. groups went to 16.ID.
There is no entry in the Sb. after juni 44 so I presume he was taken POW in Normandy.

No entry of award here :

But the ID photo and this document show the contrary :
