Looks like an HE Grenade (M35?) threaded to the lamp portion! You've got a good eye man! I am actually EOD and the first thing i thought was an oil filter.....

wow now that's different,, M24 can repurposed into a oil lamp.. like it

Indeed guys, it is an m24 grenade that was lucky to be transformed into a peacefull and usefull civilian item, instead of being blown to smitherines on the field of battle.
