Hi all

Not sure if I have the right section here but I'm looking for any information on this unit that was destroyed/disbanded at Stalingrad. I have just picked up a small grouping to a member of the unit and there is little info in the web about it. I know they were a Recon Unit and what planes they flew and I have seen the information on ww2.dk

Are there any books around on the unit ?

Thanks in advance

Darren

I too am interested in the Aufklarungs units - maybe not so 'glamorous' as the fighters and bombers, but they played an important role and flew some very characterful aircraft.

NAG16 had an especially attractive emblem, as attached.

Have you had a look at http://www.asisbiz.com/Luftwaffe/nagr16.html

Good luck with your researches - I hope you uncover lots of interest.

Regards.

David

Hi David

Thanks for the reply. I've already seen the same info on the unit on the ww2.dk website and Lexicon der Wehrmacht but thanks anyway.

My interest in this unit is that they were disbanded due to losses at Stalingrad and wanted to find out if they flew out of the Stalingrad bases or Pitomnik or Gumrak or did they just do recon work over the Stalingrad battlefield but from an airfield outside of the Stalingrad pocket?

I have these two Urkunde and wanted to know more about his actions. He was injured mid December and went off to a hospital in Vienna. Was he on a recon plane or could he have been ground crew ????

Cheers

Dear Darren,

Thanks for the acknowledgement and sorry I don't know more. I think you should consider moving your posts on this subject to http://www.wehrmacht-awards.com/foru...splay.php?f=32 or http://www.wehrmacht-awards.com/foru...splay.php?f=96

Regards.
