Exclamation The highs and lows of dagger collecting

I often run ads and have come across some neat pieces.

I did a house call from a fellow and he went into another room and came back with this beat up old suitcase.

When opened it was FULL OF DAGGERs, Chained SS, EM33, SA, Luft, Navy.. even a police bayo.

Very exciting.

Upon closer inspection most had great blades but externally most were shot.

Now the pressing news. Not sure how he came up to prices but they were in left field.

I recall when Wittman came out with the big SS book and SS prices (and other jumped nice bit..

Ill keep him in mind but thought Id share this story.

Sad to say.. I didnt buy much at all.

The collar tabs are reproductions, but certainly a minor concession in an otherwise Fantastic dagger haul!

I WISH I was able to buy it all.. He was not realistic on the current prices of items.

I tried to pass on that if common items have "issues" dents, chips, rust etc.. it is hard to give them away..

He didn't want to hear it.. So I respected my elders and wished him luck.

We were only able to meet on a few items. Perhaps Ill follow up in a few years.

Neat pile - but I hate to see this material get thrown around like junk...

Happens plenty of times at shows too...
