Thanks for the family pictures! Many people say the Germans have no sense of humor. I think this is wrong. Instead, I think most people do not understand the German sense of humor. These pictures support that theory

Gents,

A few more "old timer" pictures arrived this weekend.

First up is a pair of young Gefreiters. Note the wooly uniforms with pointed epaulettes.

Based on their collar tabs, they appear to be in different branches of the Heer.

Would anyone care to venture a guess?

Unfortunately, there are no clues written on the back of the photo.

All the best,
TJ

Next up we have two World War II veteran general officers inspecting a formation of medical troops.

There is a caduceus insignia sewn onto the sleeve of the rather stout Feldwebel closest to the camera.

One can also see Unimog ambulance and a Hotchkiss armored ambulance (SpZ 11-2 kurz) in the background.

Does anyone recognize the general officers?

Thanks,
TJ

This picture of the SpZ kurz is found on Panzerbaer.de

If you haven't been to this site yet, what are you waiting for!?

All the best,

The next three photos appear to be taken of the same unit formation from different angles.

The Oberfeldwebel in the first rank is wearing ribbons from WW II.

Note too that the Stabsunteroffizier in the second rank is wearing the 1st model tactical belt while others in the formation are wearing the oliv combat belt.

A final shot of the unit formation from further back.

Does anyone recognize the kaserne or unit type?

Thanks,
TJ

Some people say when they see an animal flying;that's a bird.
I say;that's a seagull or a hawk or a blackbird.
But when I see a tracked vehicle,I say that's a tank.
They all look alike for me and I'm bad in recognising them.
Nevertheless an early picture, but only 6x7cm large.

That's a Walker Bulldog. I knew the Austrians used them but I didn't know the Bundeswehr did.

Yes, thats an M41. The BW used them until the late 60ies in the armoured reconnaissance branch.
