Hi,
that’s an early dagger by WKC. The scabbard looks similar to Höller, but such a scabbards used WKC with an early daggers.
Best,
Oleg.

Hi Les, nice early WKC M38, the scabbard is their harder to find initial production lightning bolt leaf band scabbard which has a different design on the scabbard body/shell to usual WKC's, the main differences being the pattern starting higher up nearer the throat and the dotted lines of the acanthus leaves don't go right down to the chape, earlier sailing ship blade is also correct as is the initial production WKC eagle pommel. Nice textbook example.
Russ.

No probs Les, forgot to mention the circles (Ermine feet) at the bottom of the lightning bolts are smaller on these earlier examples compared to much bigger ones on their later scabbards.

Hi Russ,
that's what we talked about. Now I have made a comparative picture of the bottom parts of the scabbards by Höller and WKC, please have a look at the picture at the bottom of the page

Best,
Oleg.

That is interesting, there seems to be quite a link with WKC and Holler, i have always thought this with the early WKC pommel which i call an early WKC (Holler type) pommel, but it wasn't until recently that i was thinking about these two companies scabbards with Norm's plain unmarked WKC having scabbard bands with the same leaf design as some Holler's, i wonder who made what and why the early WKC pommel which we can see on this example is so similar to Holler's and nothing like WKC's standard pommel.
Russ.
