Default Attic find late war brown camo gas mask set from Gdynia/Gotenhafen

Straight out of a house cleaning in Schleswig-Holstein (20 km away from the danish border). 100% untouched and even uncleaned set directly from the attic with

interesting brown/bronce camo. Late war gas mask can stamped 44 in Klarscheiben Fach and with ebd 1944 straps. Lenses of gas masks are stamped 1944 too. So a real late war set. Even the Tropendichtring is inside the can. The stamp inside the mask is interesting. It says:

"Geprüft KMN??? Gotenhafen...2. März 1945". Anybody is able to identify it exactly?

So this mask has been checked and stamped a few days before the red army could encounter Gotenhafen/Gdynia. I guess it was in coastal artillery use. Any informations are highly appreciated.

Sort of tropical camo would say ( seomething bewteen tan and brown ). Intresting it has acceptance stamp from Gdynia ( even in last period all had to be as prescribed in orders/manuals of any sort - some way strange and scary ).

I'm asbolutely sure that there were Coatsal Artillery units as Hel Peninsula had a Coastal artillery battery there . Also around Gdynia and Gdańsk were costal artillery defence position ( on the hills around both cities still ae located Costal artillery bunkers and AA posotions ).

Cool camo variant indeed! CA units were inventive in camo sheme appliance ( with all respect some had way to much 'free time' during the war). Would fit perfectly in last stages of combat in that area IMHO.
Another great find

Best regards,
Jan B.

Maybe it is date of validity. Not start date but end date.

Yes indeed very strange to see an acceptance stamp inside a mask from March 45 but i have Filters in my collection that have been stamped in April 45.

100% agreement. These guys had a lot of time and you can see tan colours that no one else used. Still hoping to find a coastal artillery helmet with unusual camo in the future

We have a 100% Match in colour (rotbraun-redbrown), unit (Coastal artillery) and location (Ostsee). Thanks to Max for the help!

Great gas mask -- thank you for sharing with us!
I have not studied German gas masks very much, but I seem to recall that
the screw cap on the side may be to allow it to be used for communication?

Also, I have sent you a PM, but your in-box is full. Thanks for the great
account of your find!

Sincerely,
John
