Nice images thanks for showing.

I am a big fan of KG 4 and the bomber wing in general. There were a number of photos which recently surfaced on German Ebay but those were primarily to 4./KG4 in late 40- early 41. I don't recognized any of these flyers from that batch.

Regards

Jeremy

Hi Jeremy,
No, none of these ones came from that batch. But I do believe the dates could be around the same time! Still alot of research to be done with this group of photos. Alot of writings/names on back that have not been looked into, as I have turned my focus on other collecting interests recently.

Thanks Raphael, those were actually the last ones! The group has a total of 33 photos in it. 30 of them from the same album/schwadron etc.
Im actually re-focusing my collection, and am getting ready to start taking offers on this grouping. It would be sad to see it go, but it belongs with someone who will focus/continue on the research and enjoy the material even more than I did.

Bill, what is written on this photograph? Which medals are seen and is the cord an Adjudanten Schnur? I have a slight idea who it can be (German Cross Holder and Ehrenpokal für Besondere Leistung im Luftkrieg) thought I am not completely sure.

Hi Bart, Unfortunately this is one of the few photos that do not have writing on the back. However, I do believe this man is indeed wearing the DKiG, which you can slightly see behind the Adjutants Aguillette. Other medals are Ek2 ribbn, EK1, Pilots Badge (maybe), and KVk1 I believe.
That would be great if you could ID this man, as he has not yet been ID'ed.
I still cannot believe this grouping has not sold yet, but the way the Estand is going lately, I shouldnt be surprised! lol

Thanks for any help!

I think that this set is extraordinary, but for different reasons than most!

First of all, the sonderfuhrer Major has a 1939 EK2. He must be some sort of avitaion photographer or related specialist, who was in a combat situation.

Also, of interest, is the Nautiker(the beamte with the dark colored(Dark green) collar tabs with the propeller. Another rarity. To top things off, he has a war badge(pilot I think) and 1939 EK2 as well. I have never seen such highly decorated beamte before.

I love it!!

Thank You for your input Paul, I appreciate it. As for the Sonderfuhrer w/ 1939 Ek2.....His name is "Dr. Reckers. From what I gather from what is written on the back of his photo, he was acting as KG4's "Meteorologist" at this particular time! He can be seen also in the photos w/ Rath in the "map room".
I also thought it was neat to see the Nautiker tabs and such awards on a Beamte. I think he may have actually recieved these awards while w/ KG4 because there is another photo of him w/out any awards.

Here he is w/ Ek2 + UnId'ed Badge and most likely a slightly earlier photo of him w/ out awards (also writing which has not been translated yet on back)

I am thinking of Wilhelm Bergmann, promoted to Oberleutnant in July 1943 and appointed to Adjudant der IV. Gruppe der Kampfgeschwader 4 "General Wever" in October 1943. Bearer of the Deutsches Kreuz in Gold in begin 1944 (24.2.).

Wilhelm Bergmann (ID)

But that would make this photograph late war instead early war as the others.

Man Bart, that certainly does look like him! But like you said it would have to mean that the photo is later war. Hmm. There are 1941 dates on 2 of the photos in my grouping (not this one). I always figured they were all taken within the same time frame, but I honestly cannot say for sure I guess.
But the man in my photo is a very close match to Wilhelm Bergmann. The whole facial structure (nose, mouth, jaw, hair) are very similar. I guess we will never know....but I do believe that the man in my photo is wearing a DK behind that Schnur. (dont think its a Sp Crss)

Everything seems to match of Bergmann but can't be sure at the moment. I would doubt that all photographs would be from one and the same time frame. We should note when high awards were awarded to personal seen on the photograph and see which years come up.

I think you are right about that Bart. It very well could be that the original owner of the photos (the photographer) had taken photos of himslef and his unit all throughout the war or at least throughout the time he served w/ KG4. Making the dates of some of the photos vary.

An eaiser one to figure out is the photos of General-Major Hans Joachim Rath...who was a commander of KG4 from 1940-1942. So, I do believe that at least some, if not most of the photos are around this timeframe. Doesnt mean that some are not later war tho.....as could easily be the case.
I'm just glad that you recognized Bergmann! (most likely)
