Default Iron Cross Cloth Version, advice please

Hi All,
Is this Iron Cross Cloth Version OK or is it a repro/fake. If it is a repro/fake what are the signs?
Any advice would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance,
Terry

Personally I consider it an act of faith and I have no reference points to compare.
Only when I have / will see a photo that witness to its use and the type of typology will I be able to consider them as a tolerated personal initiative.
A bit like the EKII 1939 trifold Austrian ribbons, they exist but never worn on a uniform as shown in the photos.

Hi Terry,

I observed several embroidered EK 1’s at the SOS. Don’t know if they were similar to yours as I didn’t stop to look at the details.

Regards,
Mike

I agree 100%
I would really want 100% rock solid proof, before I would pay much for a cloth EK I

Is it glowing first ?
I don't like the backing cloth which is of a sloppy quality , observed on many repros .
IMO a repro .

These did exist, but whar ever you believe in the one you are buying, is up to you!

As said, personal initiative.

In the first photo it is very strange the EKI appears more defined / dark than the other decorations and flat (very straight) on the pocket, it does not follow the folds.

Is the photo yours or taken from the Internet ?

Without offense it seems to me, at first glance, a job done with Photoshop.

The second photo shows an EK with nothing in the core, no swastika or date.

And in recent years I have seen a number of cloth crosses appear on the market that I had not seen in 25 years of collecting; is always a personal opinion indeed.

I don't know about the u-boat badge but there are numerous period pictures of the EK1 in wear. Since these were not an issued item the standards vary greatly. It's up to the individual to collect what he is comfortable with. Speaking for myself I could never be comfortable with one. As well, the asking price for these is well above what one would pay for a original issued cross. Leap of faith.....
