Default Knight's Cross by Klein & Quenzer

Hi all,

it's been a long time singe i was showing something from my collection, so now i will start with a nice KC by Klein & Quenzer.

The receiptment was Ernst Süß, a fighter ace.
He was awarded the KC as Flugzeugführer 9. / Jagdgeschwader 52, on September 4th, 1942.

Ernst Süß was killed on 20th December 1943 while hanging in his parachute.
Maybe this is the reason why the KC is a bit deformed ???

With this KC also came a DKiG from Zimmermann and a Pilot badge.

For me, personal, a very nice (and tragical) piece of history.

Best,
Oliver

For me is this condition the "real" condition. I mean, a mint piece is a cool one, but on KC a worn piece with traces of wear has it's own character.

I can post some pics of the rest (DKiG & PB) on saturday if you like.

I thought the K&Q Knight`s Crosses were late war awards.

This is an early made cross without the die flaws in the rim.
The die flaws comes in later made crosses.

So that could mean he was awarded this at the end of 42. Are there pictures of him wearing this one or was this one he acquired to wear and he kept his award cross at home? No question it's a great RK, just interesting to find out more about it.
