Default Train Eagle

The eagle has landed. Instead of the seller getting the right size box, he put the eagle between 2 flat boxes duct taped together. The duct tape was falling off the box and you could literally see the eagle inside. Very lucky someone didn't steal it. But anyway, after a painfully slow 2 week delivery, it has arrived. And I freaking LOVE it. PS I wish we had a miscellaneous category for these types of things.

I wonder if the Führer could authenticate a train eagle?

they"re probably coming from india or pakistan ,like the one in this post ...look at rough finish on front right wing ....but wait!...it has full unmachined studs ...so it must be original pre-ww2 .... EC

Train eagles are somewhat rare and I've noticed at least 15 of these examples up for sale in the past year alone, when the one looker finished originals or ones with solid provenance turn up about once a year, just a red flag IMO.

Jim, congrats! I attached some pics of one that I had with finished studs for comparison....assuming it was ripped from the train. All of these were hand finished and had varying degrees of buffing. Your's maintains a lot of original detail, not heavily buffed. Look at your beak compared to mine. My bird was heavily buffed and the detail from the beak was removed, where yours was maintained.

Also, take note of how the LOK 600 GAL-Mg-Si looks on mine. Very similar cruddy detail....yep, contrary to popular belief, not perfect. The back detail looks spot on like mine. A lot of similar details.

Again, congrats.

Mike
