Wow! Bravo!

There's a smaller chance it could be immediate post war, but wartime seems accurate.

Would love to have a piece like that in the collection.

Hello mg:
IMO a very nice vintage chain stitched fanion.
Double Cross of Lorraine would make it WW2 Free
French, right?

The cross of lorraine was very popular long after the war as well. Every unit who participated was proud to feature it long and hard in their insignia!

After 1944 tradition fanion of the 501 RCC 3rd company .
This company was holding the traditions of the 5th regiment de Hussards during the period 1944-51 .

I agree , this company was recreated in 1941 but the traditions symbolic of this fanion came later .
Tradition book of the 501 RCC :
"le 22 février 1944, la 3e compagnie du 501e RCC reçut un fanion spécial dont une face est bleue hussard brodée d'une effigie de saint Georges terrassant le dragon"
So on the 22 February 1944 at least , or later until 1951 when the 5th Hussards was recreated ....
Hard to say if the fanion was made in 1944 or in 1951 ?
Nick
