Default Original SS License Plate?

Looking for opinions on originality? Looks to be hand painted to me.

Here are a few to compare to. I only own the one but was part of a larger group found in the bottom of a lake in Russia in 2006. I think Kursk?

IMO the first plate is not original.

The Kursk (?) plates must have been dumped for security reasons?

I am far from an expert on these plates, but have never seen one hand painted and certainly not that rough. Just my two cents.

Ps. What an amazing river find that is, very curious of why of course they were all
dumped there.

Kind regards

The motorcycle plates beginning with 114*** are attributed to 6. SS - Gebirgs Division Nord.

The 97*** designation also attributed to Nord.

I believe this hoard of plates was pulled out of a lake in Karelia, not Kursk which would make
sense given it is in the general area of operations for Division Nord.

They were suppose to be hand painted, but with the aide of stencils.

Having said that I have seen period photos clearly showing variations that prove roughly painted runes and numbers on plates definitely existed.

Neither is a lack of stamps to a plate make it a fake as period images clearly show that many license plates lacked any stamps.

Karelia, yes you are correct! I forgot that name and Kursk came to mind. But once I read your post I remembered. Karelia is where these were found.
