Superb collection Bob. Did the Elastolin range include 'goose step' marching figures?

Many thanks Lampwick, yes they did for the Heer but not Luftwaffe..
The Luftwaffe sets are IMHO the best they did,the helmet sculpts for band figures in the Heer set are crap why I do not know,I may look to get them made..
These Luftwaffe figures I've only ever found in boxes by Preiser, they took over the Elastolin brand,Army figures can be found in both Elastolin and Preiser boxes.
Preiser also did much better figure painting than the Elastolin.
All these figures I have were produced in the late 80's and onwards and are made from hard plastic, all bear the name Elastolin Germany to the bottom of base.

Cheers

Bob

No goose step sadly,i have a couple of busted marching figures suppose I could try heating them up and bend them into shape, wouldn't like to do a whole band though..

Default Der Spiess

Well I was looking at my troops and suddenly realised I was missing Der Spiess..Mein Gott! ,this was not good, can't have a display like this without a Hauptfeldwebel. Elastolin Preiser never produced a Spiess so it was a case of reworking a figure to represent the "Mutter der Kompanie".

I had only one figure spare that I could use,a duplicate of a LW band leader. He is produced as an officer in the ELastolin/Preiser range ,he comes with a sam brown belt and officer jodphurs..so they had to go
I carefully sanded down the jodphurs so they suited a high ranking NCO,sanded out the sam brown and repainted....
Now he was going to look a bit stupid waving a band leader baton so I carefully removed it.. but what to put in its place?...A Sword!, saluting the colours with a sword in front of the enlisted men..I had no spare swords so I made one,two cocktail sticks sanded down shaped and painted,I made the crossguard out of card and glued it into place...Now the right arm was in the wrong position for the look that I wanted so out came another cocktail stick which I put a flame too (carefully) and bent the arm into place.Once that was done I glued the sword and crossguard into place and touched up with paint, job done.
I've painted on the Spiess " piston rings " to the sleeves some might think they look more like a cufftitle but when your half blind its the best as I can get them
Anyway I still have a little painting to do on him but I thought i'd get a picture done with what was his twin brother,I hope you like him.

Just thought I'd add this link for those (like me) that had no idea what a 'Speiss' was.
