War K98 cleaning kit marked 7mm g.appel 1937

I picked few celling kits and one of them is marked 7mm with a name(I think) on the other side. I never saw one marked like this. What exactly is it?
Thank you

No WaA stamp might suggest a civilian use

With that date could also be part of a foreign contract, delivered or not given the German name. Could also be para-military like SSVT. I’m not saying it is but a considerable number of German organizations bore arms and did not obtain them through the channels approved by the WaA inspection

Why? Because someone painted "7mm" (and their name) on a cleaning kit hardly makes it some unusual factory variant.

Which components inside the kit would reflect the difference between 7mm and 7.92mm, assuming it was not just a simple mistake? .92mm is .036 of an inch.

So I found my normal military issue one for 8mm and you can see the difference in size. All of the parts out of 7mm are 1937 dated. Same date as a case.

Very interesting! I had no idea that these were made for 7MM. I’m not even aware of any 7MM rifle made under German contract by the late 1930s. The caliber and the name is clearly German meaning this example did not go to Spain or South America under contract. A good post of what I would think is a scarce variation.

Thanks for showing us pictures of the components. Certainly agree with Phild.

I just looked at my .22 kit. No WaA, but also made by G. Appel, but no date.
