The Luft collector I purchased the boards from told me he bought the tabs in Germany in the early 70s as a display set and since they were repros I could have them.

Very interesting ; so they are old fakes. I remember that a WAF member told that some really good fakes were made in the 50' or 60'.

I sure don't remember any great fakes of insignia in the 60's....most of the fakes at that time were laughable and not meant to fool anyone. Considering you could buy the real pieces for a couple of dollars, where was the incentive? I still have some of my nice, original pieces that I paid anywhere from $1 to $5 for (including an SS TK tab I got for five bucks). I also have some of the cheesiest looking repro collar tabs and cufftitles you will ever see, that I bought out of comic books at the time for less than a dollar.

Thanks to this thread I was able to identify one fake collar tab on an otherwise perfect Fliegerblouse at the Toronto Military show on the weekend.

Not a huge issue but I was happy to have knowledgably identified it.

Interesting discussion. I pulled the only three "double chevron" tabs from my collection. I think this first pair is okay. Obverse:

Based on the comments in this thread this final pair is questionable. Notice the exaggerated 'beak':

Based upon what I see in these three photos, I like the first and third photos. The second set; I would like to see in person before deciding with any finality.
