Default Fj/Gj Headstones

Good evening gents,

In the spirit of the battle, I am going to Kreta soon so if you would like me to take a picture of your Fj/Gj headstones please PM me the names. I'll the send you a pic. This goes for any Brit/Commonwealth soldiers as well.

Regards!

Bob

Returned the other night from a month long trip to Italy, Crete, Slovenia, and Ireland. While on Crete I visited the German cemetery and took some pics of headstones for items in my collection and a few for Paul (Paulus Gun). I also have some pics of a few other troops who have made appearances here on WAF. Although it was a very sobering experience, I'm looking forward to my next trip there.

The original photo you have is taken in Iraklion not Maleme. You can see the town in the background. There were only som small cemeteries in the Maleme area.

Thanks for clarifying that J. When I was there I was looking around and saw nothing like that down near the airfield and could make no sense of it. Do you know where about that cemetery was outside of Iraklion? I'm going back next year and would like to see what it's like now.

Hello bob.
The cemetery in Heraklion (Iraklion in german) was south of the city where today is the football field of Atsalenios. More info about heraklion in "The battle for Heraklion. Crete 1941".
Cheers
Yannis
