Default CIA Related Airlines - Americas Other War.

These are my absolute favorite items. Early employee badges/pins for Civil Air Transport -- which eventually became Air America, Inc. (sort of).
Badges accompanied a paper ID.

The ID here comes from the legendary M.D. "Doc" Johnson:

This one must date from about 1947 or so -- right after formation of CAT or CNRRA Air Transport as it was originally named.

Thanks for taking the time in starting this thread. When did the Civil Air Transport change over to Air America? And how long where these pins were used?

Great thread so far...

how were the pins used?, was it like a pass to get on secure airfields, were they worn on the flight jackets?

Default ID Pins

Funny thing - no one I've ever communicated with remembers wearing the pins - they were just given them with the ID cards!

Long story, but CAT, Inc. turned into Air America in 1959.
CAT stayed CAT flying passenger service until the final crash/end.

WOW, I never actually saw the pins before. An exc book about the history of civil air transport was written in the 80s as I recall. I got very much into this when collecting dien bien phu stuff as CAT was hugely involved with resupply flying boxcars mostly.

the Leary book:

An exc. write-up about Earthquake Mcgoon is in the Hell in a very small place book

Yes - Continental Airlines - check the logo! More later - this is just a tease.
