Not a DAK cap but an unissued tropical CW from Aug '42. Another from the beehive cache.
Original insignia has been added post war.

Yes I agree, the insignia is highly suspicious in more ways than one.

All original untouched CW tropical caps that I have ever seen, have had machine stitched cockades. Would like to see a straight on image of the cockade to double check that it is an original and not a reproduction.

Also an image of the reverse stitching of the soutache on the inside of the pull-down flap would be interesting and a tell-tale one way or the other,

Yes agree Chris The original CW hand sewn eagle application is quite distinctive whether from the Hamburg factory such as this cap or the Bruanschweig factory which has a different signature. Can't tell on the cockade or soutache and would need better photos to determine origin. Once again another beehive cap thats been messed with.
