Default DAK Tunic opinions please

Hello,

I'm looking for all opinions on this tunic. I don't care for the shoulder boards and not real comfortable with the cuff. I'd appreciate any help that can be provided.

Regards,
Tim

Default Tunic

Basic tunic looks ok, as you stated has reapplied insignia, shoulder boards not good.

Tunic appears to been artificial aged??, for example wear to the buttons not consistent with fading

Can you post some inside shots of it laid out flat and one of the bandage pocket?

Cheers
Msteve

Hello,

Thank you for the great comments. I really appreciate it. Sorry to say I was only able to grab these photos. A tote of DAK that a gentleman was trying to sell.

Regards,
Tim

Hello,

Fake eagle, fake tabs built in some fantasy application, artificially aged. Return it if you can.

Thanks for the continued comments. It was a tote of DAK available at the SOS. Tunics obviously not my area. Again, really appreciate the help!

Agree with all comments so far except I believe the base tunic is actually originally worn/washed and the fading is consistent with what I could expect to see in some originally worn tunics (from these photos).

I have to agree with Mark, the tunic hasn't been artificially aged at all. Not much more anyone else can say on the insignia that hasn't already been said.

The jacket is a nice early original. All the insignia is fake including the AKCT. Agree with the Mark(s)
The natural heavy wear to the jacket itself, but little wear to the buttons imply that it has been machine washed.

Tim - it could be the photography but I see buttons with no paint left on them at all, they're down to the base alloy and just the way I'd like to see them - just as they are on many of my tunics.
I have attached two images which I can find quickly on file of two of my lightly used tunics but the buttons are bare. I have exactly the same conditioned buttons as the ones that started this thread on tunics which I guarantee never saw a washing machine.

Hi Mark

You could be right ? It's gotta be the photos. The buttons look like they still have the paint on them ? Agree if they are stripped that is much better

cheers
Tim

The cufftitle is an original one.
IMO artificially aged, but it is an original.

From the image of the underside of the collar, it appears the stitching of the original tabs may still be in place. I can't imagine that the tabs could still be underneath these later applied mounted tabs.

Default Tropical 1st Pattern tunic;

IMO a perfectly good tunic with period aging. Boards, eagle and tabs are repos freshly applied. Shows original stitching lines for the original tabs. CT original to the tunic and has aged with the tunic. Buttons may have been missing and replaced. Most likely a POW piece. I like the tunic itself.
