Need advice and help

I really need your help guys i have a WW2 British Parachute Regiment beret with a few moth nips it is sitting in my display cabinet and i have a white spot on my beret this was on it when i first bought it about 1 1/2 years ago i first thought it was just a stain but looking closely i noticed it was a deep nip with some kind of white cotton like residue inside it is hard to describe the look of it. Then only recently i noticed another similar white spot on the underside of the beret, i can't remember seeing this so i panicked, i just would like to know what Moth eggs look like and if they are how to kill them. I thought about putting it in the freezer but the leather sweatband is cracked in places and i don't want to ruin my beret but on the other hand i don't want the Moth larvae eating it and causing more holes. Is there any other methods i could use, This is the centre of my collection so i really need help on this.

Hi,

I have had a look on the net and can't seem to find any good solutions to get rid of them, i am thinking about putting it in the freezer but the leather is cracked, will this crack any worse if i do put it in the freezer ? i also found moth strips which supposedly kill moths and eggs but i would like to ask if anyone has had any experience with these and do they actually work
