Default Water Police Buckle w/ Wide Tab 1940 - Wiedmann for Reference

Hello All,

Recently acquired this one and have not seen many posted, so I am adding it for reference.

Buckle is maker marked with a "W" in a box while the wide tab is marked "E.Ferd.Wiedmann Frankfurt A.M.-S." and dated "1940".

All comments are appreciated.

Regards,

Eric

Hello Eric,

by the pics show by my monitor, gilding appears a bit faded.

May you confirm it's not a regular police with silvering yellowed ?

Other than that a good piece IMO

Ric

I echo Rics comment. Wiedmann is well known for their yellowed silver coating.
On the other hand I never saw a gold traffic/ water police buckle by that company.

I would also agree with above thoughts, I have a similar more worn example, and I've also not seen a WSP/Traffic police buckle in gold by this maker.
