Default Candid photo showing unusual helmet paint

Gents,

What do you make of the unusual paint on the pictured M56 helmets?

An early version of the "invasion stripe"? Opposing force pattern applied for maneuvers or war games? Winter camo?

I have reason to believe the troops in question are in the field artillery.

Thanks,
TJ

Looks like very bright sunlight and the darker side is in the shadow.
You can also see such features on the Uniforms.

When you look at their left arms, they're as white as the helmets from the left.

Yes, a bit different from the DDR or polish Rain Pattern.
Czech has a slight Leopard Pattern underneath the Raindrops.
I have Parkas an Field Caps made of this Stuff, but never saw a Beret.
