Most of these decals are obvious fakes. Some are borderline cartoonish. But a few with proper execution would fool many, and posibly fetch $1000 plus on Faux-Bay.

The round bottom fake supposedly of Czech origins. I had this one in hand and I tell you what, the way the decal was adhered to the helmet was incredible. As good as any original decal I've seen and it had even sunk into the surface and and become one. Mild abrasive blasting to age it, lucky the design is so wrong! Bill

I agree Bill the aging and tone of the fake round bottom are very good.

When you magnify the runes the difference between a real and round bottom is huge.

Fake helmets being sold on gunbroker
Beware of gunbroker seller Carson Goodwin user name:Goody42
He is selling fake SS helmets, luft helmets and heer helmets as originals.
He burned me on a fake SS belt buckle a couple of weeks back,he tooks a file and tried to remove all the telltale mold marks. When I called him on it he told me he does NOT refund buyers money, even if the item does turn out to be a fake.He doesn't care once he has your money.

Greeting.
Does anyone have any info on this type of SS badge? Real/fake, what is it? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Just out of curiosity, with so many known originals around, why is it so difficult to reproduce any of the decals? Yes, I know, no one wants any perfect repros, but just out of curiosity....

SS Decals
Thank You for some excellent photos ! Question: Does anyone know how many companys were retained to produce Third Reich decals ? Army, Navy, Air Force and of course SS. There appears to have been many manufactures and many variations. Does anyone out there have a favorite test or trick to determine authenticity ?
