Hi Terry,

I've got both the Gold and Silver versions. I'll post the Silver tomorrow.

Terry,

Herewith the rarer silver version.

I have no idea why these badges were issued. The first time I ever saw picture of one (the gold version) was in 1966 in "Purnell's History of the Second World War". They described it as being "Ex-Cavalryman's First World war Belt Buckle" which clearly it was not.

Very cool silver version as well!

Are these faked?
What would one be expected to pay for the silver or gold version?

I am a bit of a fan of Mackensen, have some photos and such of him and these would be really cool to own.

Regards,
David

Dave,

Well, I've never seen a fake one and presume that they are not because they are not mainstream.

The Silver cost me €185 and the Gold €235, both from Weitze.

Here's a (poor) photo of a large (6 inches high) silvered plaque I have.......................obviously based on the same design.

I saw the name 'Von Mackensen' and I knew that Robin would have something.

You all have some really nice items there, chaps. My hearty congratulations on them

Raymond
