Default M17 camo helmet

Hi all
What books and/or web links can you recommend for information on camouflage patterns and regulations for M17 helmets? I've just purchased a helmet and want to do further research.
Also, what specifically would the Unit numbers represent: 5./157. (hand written on the inside rear skirt)?

Hello Ernie:
Nothing beats decades of experience, however; starting with Ludwig Baer's book - The History of the German Steel Helmet 1916-1945 - would be a good start.
The Unit marking may very well be for Infantry Regiment 157, VI Army Corps.
Best Regards,
