Default Silver wound badge 1939 ID please

Hi Guys

This pretty unusual badge just came in and I don't recognise it. Would anyone be able to ID a maker for this one please?

Many thanks for any help

Patrick

Hi Patrick!

These are previously designated as "Übergrosse" due to the bigger size then the normal WW II WB. Now days they go as "Deschler/Wiedmann". Deschler is the only known comapny that makermarked some with L/10 and the Wiedmann link is the hardware on some of them - Lilypad hinge etc that is common on Wiedmann badges as PAB, IAB etc which is not known on Deschler badges...

Thanks Hans, I had owned a few of that type in the past but interestingly this example is the same size as a regular wound badge- I also haven't seen this type of war badge hinge used before either??

Having done some further research it would appear that the setup on this badge is typical for the Deschler IAB. I have not seen it used on a wound badge before. This badge is also standard size so perhaps they aligned their production late in the war away from the oversized version.

Interesting badge! Looked like the bigger type although it seems to have a misaligned strike judging the off-centered obverse

Hi Patrick

The Deschler/Wiedmann connection Hans already mentioned, had distinctive pommels. Your badge does not have those.

The hardware is interesting and looks like a nice badge.

Graeme

Hi Patrick

Nice badge

I agree with Graeme
It's not a Deschler design badge

Here are a few with the same design by an unknown maker but with a more
common setup

Cheers,
Ronny

Nice one, the maker is unknown for this short helmet or "LC"
