Default 1939 S/42 Luger value ?

I have been out of the hobby for a number of years and have been offered a near mint /matching S/42 Luger by a close friend. I'm hearing all kinds of rumors about the current status of Luger prices/values and all the ups and downs in the last 10-20 years. I would most appreciate help from the membership in coming up with a fair offer for this Luger.

Hard to help without some decent photos. High condition Lugers are always desirable and if not messed with could be worth quite a bit.

Matched mag with say 97-98% strong blue sharp grips no pits or flaws, retail around $2700 plus or minus 10% or so. More blue wear, thinning straps and Mis-matched mag will bring that down $1000 or more.

That is why it is difficult without great photos or in person inspection as little things can have big impact up or down in value

i paid $2400 for my 1937 rust blued luger in 98% condition w/ a decent holster....all matching....to me a 1939 would be worth a bit less because of some of the cost savings they used after mid 1937.....but im not a luger expert....

For the most part IMO Luger prices have been fairly stagnant and maybe even declined some in the past few years. I agree with the above ranges, though I’d expect maybe 24-25 to be top end with matched mag and excellent cond.

Default Luger prices

I sold a 1939 and 1940 luger without matched mags in 95%+ condition on gunbroker for 1477 and 1540.

Thats not what a dealer would ask, but its what they are worth.
