When it rains, it pours...here is an anomaly that I believe is post-war, as it lacks the Verkaufsabteilungen der LW stamp, and (IMHO) Halfar did not start using the Ce-Ha Prima logo with "Carl Halfar" until after the war:

Under the hood--most wartime Ce-Ha's had orange sponges:

His has a rare variant perforation pattern to the SB--most (if they had them at all) were the block pattern:

Ron's logo--the same as all the others, (except for the anomaly hat):

Well, I "restored" the cap to the best of my "lazy" abilities. As I stated at the beginning, some brainiac super-glued a Janke repro eagle/wreath to the cap. The only thing that removes it is acetone (same stuff your wife uses to remove fingernail polish). Anyway, it is fabric-safe, but tedious as all get out, to the point where I just got tired of it. I got it all off the eagle area, but not all off the band--I'll save that for another year(!).

Anyway, when I finally did get the glue off, it did confirm that this cap never had any sewn-on insignia--however, there were holes in the band and peak for metal em/nco insignia. What I believe is that this cap was so late-war that Halfar was reduced to using metal insignia on their officer caps (and we all have seen pix of officers with metal insignia).

I would like to give a BIG shout-out to Keith at hms brinmaric for supplying me with these hard to find matching insignia at a VERY reasonable price--so reasonable, I almost felt like he was giving it away, right Keith? !

Anyway, the hat does look 100% better, and I ever re-shaped it a bit:

I forgot to mention that Keith is a member of the WAF, and you can visit his site here: www.hmsbrinmaric.com

I have bought some very fine items from him, and I suggest you all take a look--he is one of the good guys!

Here you go Chris,
This one just arrived this morning,I'll do a couple more pictures either later today or tomorrow..
It in like new condition with one rip to the unperforated leather liner...but has that unmistakable smell of originality
Hope you like it
Bob

You will not many takers as they are not common caps! I have one that I will try to get some photos of to you. I’ve owned mine nearly 40 years and have have seen only a couple of others, while seeing seemingly hundreds of LW Erels in same period. Mine has drop tail eagle, is minty and IMO a great looking cap.

Nice score stonemint.

Wish I had an officer Carl Halfar to post so I could contribute. If I recall both of mine are EREL.

Bob, nice lid--these Halfars are definitely underrated.
