Default Carbon Overprint Zeltbahn

Gentlemen,
as requested by some Members; Here the Pics of my Carbon Overprint Zeltbahn. I came a few Month ago from a Private Household (Thanks to M.). It is probably one of the best preserved of this kind. The Condition is near mint / slightly worn. Steel Buttons, late rough Fabric with added Corners. The Base Printing is quite weak, the Carbon Overprint is printed onto the Frontside only and appears dark grey.

Best Regards

andy

Oh! when I saw it I got the impression it was a mix of German and Italian prints, quite confusing. So it IS an Italian overprint then!

Very nice example. I have never seen one with a overprint that strong.

I was only aware of the ones with the italian pattern being almost invisible, which pretty much looks like it is shining through from a color layer underneath the actual splinter camo print.
And the ones that have a more visible but yet very brownish and see through italian overprint.

Now, compared to this one, the question on my mind is, what are the others?
Did they use to have the same strong overprint at a time and it was just washed off till it is less visible to almost invisible?
Or are there different variations?

I would certainly want to compare this one with the other ones shooting some infrared pictures.

Cheers,
Marco

This certainly puts things in a new perspective and raises a lot of new questions. It looks like its printed over, but still it is a 4 panel (italian captured fabric) as all "COPs" I have seen. I am still puzzled by why it isn`t printed on both sides? And is it really infrared protecting? And why use an italian camo style print?

I have had several Zelts from this maker, some relatively unusued and never seen this strong print before. Once I have the opportunity I`ll have a look at some of my own again.

Many thanks for showing this unique piece.

Regards
Sonnenwende

Thank you for you kind answers

@knoffhoff,

Marco,

I still have the same Questions. Why are so many differences? One Reason could be that this Carbon Print is obviously not resistant against Water, rubbing or even washing, another Reason could be that all of these very late Zeltbahns are some kind of Experimental Issues where they have tried several applications and Possibilities. Who knows, it is still one of these little myth keeps our hobby exciting.
