Most wartime or prewar tobacco items don't have a price on the package and the wartime items usually have a tax stamp. Jim

My guess is its a fantasy item. For one thing the bar is huge for body soap. The standard monthly allowance for toliet soap was 70 grams per person, eventually reaching 50 grams a month. Such large bars was impracticable for the soldier to carry with him for 4-6 months. Generally speaking soaps were packaged in weights of 88, 100, 120, 125, and 200 grams by Sunlicht which was a major soap producer. Now Kernseife according to the translation is the same as curd soap which was produced for special users like hospitals. They were generally package in 200 gram bars.

I'm not saying I'm right but I'm not rushing out to buy a bar. Jim

I also agree that this kind of package is not original - nevertheless this thread is for period Ration items - so maybe next time you post it in an re-enactment forum.

Hi,

There's no problem posting here. A lot of the ration items shown here are commercial in nature. As far as rations go we don't actually evaluate the food just the packaging. So the methodology to evaluate rations and health/hygiene items is similar. Cigarettes were considered a ration item. The US Army ration report also mixed in some cleaning supplies. So all are welcome to post. I like to see new stuff even if I have a contrary opinion or can offer no opinion at all. It's all about having fun, and maybe learning something along the way. Regards jim

Hi all!

I'm sorry if somebody is peeved about my post, in this case I can delete it.
Short statement about my own reproductions: if I want to reproduce some items for own Heeresunterkunft, I adjust them to all current specifications. Means if I see a picture about 300g soap, but mine will be only 200g, I print the paper of soap packaging with 200g declaration for sure.

Nevertheless I will show you now some cool rations and other stuff a good friend of mine give me a few days ago for free ;-)

Attached at these collection where a beltbuckle of the german "Postschutz" (Mail Security) too. It's very rare and! NO! I won't sale them! xD other people ask me too for buying.

The LI is most likely for Lentils. Not sure about the M. The F signifies it was canned in France in July 1944. Jim
