Just got them in the mail 5 mins ago. I have to say, these are some of the best condition cutters Iíve ever seen, no rust, no pitting, function great. The leather case is marked 1941 and the cutters are marked 1940. I think itís safe to assume these have been together for the whole freaking war! Leather case is sill In good condition, the seam is split on one side but I have a buddy whoís a master leather smith who I think can repair it with period correct thread. Think he should do it? I know he would do an amazing job if he did but I want to hear a collectors opinion. Would that hurt the value to repair the case?

Here are some more pictures, if you need more feel free to ask, theyíre right beside me as I type this. Having them in hand I canít believe their authenticity ever came into question, some of the best originals Iíve ever seen.

Nice set! If you ask my personal opinion I would leave it as is. If your friend repairs it , no matter how good he can do it, it will be touched. And thus not anymore as was since the war. That just my honest opinion.

Yes I think Iíll keep the pouch as is, itís a shame the seam is split but hell the thing is 80 years old, itís too be expected. The leather is still very supple and not dried out like you see on most originals so still a very nice pouch.

Realistically, what is a set up like this worth? Obviously I underpaid significantly but searching the web itís extremely hard to find a set like this. I saw just the leather case online going for $350, granted the case was near mint condition.
Thereís a similar set on the e-stand currently in a little worse condition and a presstof carrier where the seller is asking Ä350, so about $390. Yes mine as some condition problems also so taken that into account my assumption would be that this set would be worth anywhere from $350-$450. Does that sound about right? Too high? Low?

Default Wire Cutters Original?

Also, would putting leather dressing on the case hurt the value? I think it would greatly help the leather condition.
