Default What WW2 Film Would You Like To See Remade?

Just thought this would be kind of a fun thread. The ones I'd love to see a big budget remake of with the CGI abilities now......

1.A Bridge Too Far

2.Stalingrad

3. Iron Cross

War

Good question.......

I would like to see 'Valkyrie' re-made, complete with native German actors, spoken in native German language and made without Hollywood glitz and glamour in the same vein as 'Downfall'.

(I am not hopeful!)

Regards Richard.

"Battle of the Bulge" (and make it based on actual characters and use tanks that look German).

You would have thought they would have produced a version first..?

Personally, given that most remakes are TERRIBLE compared to the originals, and that CGI looks so bad when you see it on the small screen, I say leave the classics be.. There's still plenty of war stories to be told..!

Pearl Harbor with the original actors and the same plot but with everyone being eaten alive by wild dogs in the end.

Tora Tora Tora was great in its day but it would be nice to see what they could do with it today.

+1 !

As far as 'Bridge too far', 'Iron Cross' or 'Stalingrad' remaking those would be sacrilege!

You could never come near the original Bridge Too Far, that was epic and the cast alone was staggering. Hollywood sucks, they don't care about anything but making a buck.

"Midway" would top my list, especially since the 70's version was so abysmal.
Current CGI could replicate the correct ships for both fleets, and I would not place a major actor, such as Charlton Heston, in a major, fictional role.
The blueprint could be the excellent "Tora, Tora, Tora", which was done about as best as could be for the times.
The Battle of Midway, such a critical and seminal battle in our history, deserves to be told, well and accurately, and the actual battle was full of enough tension , action, and both good and bad luck, that it needs no embellishment.
Just when the situation looked bleak for the USN, those SBD's entered their dives, and the rest is history..........

While in a sense I would like to see them remake "The Battle of the Bulge" and "A Bridge Too Far", I am sure I would be disappointed in the product.

Willi,

The original Bulge movie did set the bar pretty low though. IMO, that is one movie that needs to be remade.

Best,
John

That's kind of hard to watch actually after all these years.

(And Midway as well - kind of a mess despite every star of the era being in it.)
