I chose Demjansk. For esthetics, my preference is the Krimschild, but beauty is in the eye of the beholder. The Demjanskschild captures my attention however due to having read Charles Sydnor's Soldiers of Destruction when I was younger. Although the SS Totenkopf was made up of some of the worst sort of people, the book gave me a much better impression of what it was like for the people who earned the shield than I have for the other campaigns.

Thumbs up KM Narvik Shield

Hello,
My favorite shield is the Narvik shield issued to members of the Kriegsmarine. It is the most attractive in my opinion.

My least favorites are the Krim and Kuban shields.

Personally I like the Narvik shield, though I don't have one yet. Eventually I will. My second choice would have to be the Krim shield. I do have one of those. My example was once on a uniform.Mike

This thread keeps comming up. I would like to add my "two cents" worth now. I agree with bnz42 (who ever he is). The eagle is truly "killer" on this shield. It is everything that an eagle and swastika should be on the awards we all collect.

Gotta love the Narvik, good design...Cholm is a good runner up for historical value.

Glad to see you got the KUBAN Joe! Enjoy.

Hi Guys,

For me definitely Narvik.

It's not only was the first and as such mother of all shields but It also captures the combined efforts of Heer, Marine and Luftwaffe in a sublime manner.

I like the Krim for a few of reasons.

1) They are easy to find and still very affordable.
2) They incorporate the Heer-style eagle, which I think is so sexy!
3) It's the only one I own at the moment.

I just recieved a piece of Heer-type wool cloth from I Marotto, to set my "ventilated" Krim shield on- It looks much better now!
