I can’t wait to hear what the army dagger specialists have to say about this dagger.

Victorman,
Luckily most people are really nice and I have made many friends around the world from this forum as I am sure you have too.
Wow, it looks like Serge is asking someone personally for you to look at the dagger. Another example of how most people are really great here!
Besides, you have helped many, many people here too!
Bob

Looks like a very nice dagger. If confirmed good I may be interested in buying it.

I do not ever recall seeing this maker with an Eickhorn crossguard and for me personally not a dagger i would own for my collection. I am not aware of any maker that used Eickhorn crossguards except Eickhorn on there own production. I will stand corrected on that if someone knows otherwise.

I agree with Schlange.. Eick Guard and pommel.. generic scabbard. Not a combo I would buy or support from my experience. Christianswerk used Pack 1st initially, then briefly Klaas 2nd.. then later Gen A or possibility B.. initially used maker mark across blade.. then later lengthwise. Best, Kevin.

Thank you, gentlemen, for your expert opinion on this Heer dagger!

After this verdict by the specialists, the dagger will be send back to the initial owner and NOT OFFERED FOR SALE!

Many thanks to all!

I want to thank Tom and Kevin in responding and giving their learned opinions here.
Two guys I go to when I'm challenged on a Army dagger.

Also to Herman for accepting the results and doing the right thing.

Just an observation, i see double standards on this forum, a member (Schlange) getting "bashed" here even though he gave 100% correct information about the dagger, the O.P. never asked specifically for info on the maker mark or the hanger, just about the dagger. Then i see another member (starvinmarvin) having his thread closed, moved and warned for criticizing/"bashing" a dealer (Tom Wittmann) for selling him junk and now reselling the same dagger in an altered state, which members here have a right to know. Hope this forums not going the same way as others.

The horseshoe hanger is no good for a late dagger.

Russ.

Bulldog, to be fair, Schlange also said this:

One thing is to disagree on a dagger another thing is to accuse someone of a fraud. In my view this is a very lowbrow comment. Who did Victorman defraud? Three times? He was doing exactly the opposite.

It is tit-for-tat but my main concern is one rule for members - "bashing" allowed, and another for dealers - "bashing" not allowed. I'l leave it at that.

Russ.

The same thread was closed by Dave admin over on GDC , he is Wittys friend as is Serge mod on here, closing threads on junk high priced parts daggers because the seller is a friend is very disturbing , makes me want to stop posting on this forum & GDC

Are you serious now, Russ?

Schlange simply looked up some parts in the database -which any child could do- and then FALSELY ACCUSES ME OF FRAUD!

While my intention has been the opposite: not offering a doubtful dagger for sale!

That snake should not be bashed, he should be banned from this forum!

Seems couple of members forgot the WAF rules here.

1. Members posting displeasure or arguing with a moderator regarding mods actions taken against another member is not allowed. Severe penalty on first attempt (only warning this time).

2. The last posts by Mac66 and Bulldog on this thread are OFF Topic on this thread.

I will not discuss my reasons for my actions regarding on thread closure, only will add there's a lot more than you think and it was discussed with a senior moderator
who moved that thread into 'Cellblock'.

As a moderator I try to be fair to everyone and understanding of 'Bad Day'. There are plenty of negative posts regarding Wittmann on this forum for all to see.

Any member who doesn't like the rules here are free to leave. However, continuing further discussions on this 'moderation topic' on this thread and you will not any longer have a choice.

I was hoping for opinions by the real Heer dagger collectors here (not from someone with just 1 or 2 daggers in his collection).

Best regards,

Victorman

Victorman, i agree the fraud comment was a bit harsh, but i think that was partly provoked by your response to his post. He gave you the info you requested, and without waiting to see if this was incorrect you made the response you did. I do not believe your intention was to try and sell a bad piece, but if it is so easy to just look it up in the local database then why did you not do that yourself, then you would have known it was a bad piece.

With regards to my comments on "bashing", no more to say, my point has been proven. I'm thinking along the same lines as Mac.

Russ.
