Very envious! I have that pattern as well on an M1. There is a nice discussion on the three 'patterns' at:

http://www.usmilitariaforum.com/forums/index.php?/topic/178391-usmc-wwii-frogskin-covers-rethinking-the-norm/page-3

The no slit/button hole version is thought by some to be the third pattern widely used later in the war, e.g. Iwo Jima. Though evidence in the discussion also points to these covers being used from Tarawa onwards.

Can I ask how much you paid?

Peter
