Default Helmet on e stand question

No doubt the rest of this helmet is all original, but is the stencilled Messerschmitt something added post war? Not sure of it myself so just asking.

Steve

Well they are not rare and it’s an easy thing to add , and similar stencilled helmets were all over eBay.de. NSU BMW etc . You have to ask were there a lot of these helmets used at Messerschmitt factories why are they found in minty condition and are there any photos of them being worn. so lots of questions . I guess it’s all about personal choice. Rob

I am aware that there are known factory helmets for Messerschmidt and other factories (Werkluftshutz) but what I am still trying to figure out is if a Luftschutz decal / stenciled helmet actually existed.
I have seen other examples just like the one on estand but never any period photos of one. All these examples are near mint so a fresh stencil on the side does not clash with the lack of wear elsewhere on the helmet. Seems an easy way to triple the price of an RL 2 if that is what has happened.
I am not saying that is what has happened (although I lean that way) but for years I have looked for proof that this combination existed and have not been able. I have yet to see a period photo or even an example with convincing wear. Maybe someone has?

99,9999% are stencilled post war in order to get a higher price for a fairly common helmet.
I don't believe it.
Internet is full with messed up civic helmets that way.

Pretty shoddy looking stencil work for a german helmet in my opinion, just seems too rough looking
